As teens, we live off of peer approval. From our boyfriend/girlfriend to our wardrobe and our actions. The biggest reading why is that we are in highschool and young, so we haven't quite learned all of the ropes to surviving out in the real world. All people learn by example. The example of their peers. There is a small handful that put themselves out there to set the example, and those who like what they see follow suit. It is important to feel like you belong somewhere, but a lot of teens worry too much about it. I've seen people I care about drive themselves insane trying to fit in and be what they think others want them to be. That's just nit a good way to live. In my opinion people should what they want and not worry about if it's "ok" or acceptable. Real friends will accept anything you do. People live much happier lives if they are doing what they desire and love. Those people you might call friends who shut you out if you don't conform are just upset that they don't have the courage to stand out themselves.
But highschool ends. So why waste that time building your personality with something that is not you?
